AR Coatings

Anti-reflective coating is a microscopically thin multilayer coating that eliminates reflections from the front and back surface of eyeglass lenses. This makes lenses nearly invisible as well as eliminating glare. AR coating is highly recommended for all eyeglass lenses, but particularly for polycarbonate and high-index lenses, which reflect more light than regular, uncoated glass or plastic lenses. Also, aspheric lenses, which have flatter curves than regular lenses, often cause more noticeable reflections, so AR coating is highly recommended for these lenses too. When applied to the back surface of sunlenses, AR coatings eliminate “bounce-back” reflections.

Frecker Ultra

Our Ultra AR coating has a thermal hard coat on both sides, is both hydrophobic and oleophobic. For the ultimate in scratch resistance, visual comfort and acuity, nothing beats our Ultra AR. Durable and nearly invisible on the lens, this coating vastly improves vision by increasing light transmission, enhancing contrast, and eliminating ghost images.

FogFree

Opticote has created a permanent coating designed to eliminate the frustration of having your eyeglasses fog up when you come in from the cold. The factory-applied coating, called FogFree, eliminates the condensation of moisture on lenses that causes fogging. This can be a safety issue as lens fogging can be especially dangerous for police officers and other first responders to emergency situations. Ideal for temperature variations between indoors and out, especially freezing conditions.
